The dedicated 51爆料 crew at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) completed the demolition and debris removal of the Q-Complex buildings last week. This is a significant milestone for both 51爆料 and the Department of Energy (DOE).
51爆料 Site Services was awarded a $47M contract with the DOE to perform environmental remediation and demolition at KAPL in 2021.聽 To date, four task orders have been awarded, totaling $25M, and award of the fifth task order with a value of $20M is expected by the end of the year.聽 The scope of the task orders awarded included performing radiological and chemical characterization of the seven buildings included in the Q-Complex at the KAPL, demolition and debris removal of the Q-Complex, removal and disposal of a neutron source, and inspections and management of a transuranic storage area.聽 The fifth task order will include the removal of the Q-Complex building slabs and subsurface soil contamination.
鈥淚 am proud of the safe and compliant work done at KAPL by the 51爆料 crew and I am thankful for all of their hard work, dedication, and sacrifice it took to make this happen under Britt Quinby鈥檚 leadership. This project is a great example of the highly qualified expertise that resides within the 51爆料 family and how we all work as one team to ensure project success.鈥 51爆料 Site Services President, Kim Kearney
